Dear Black Womxn

poetry film

2020

This was a poem I wrote and a film I created amid the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, a few months after the murder of George Floyd and the rise of the Black Lives Matter protests. This was a love letter to the women in my life, those who look like me, those who are my friends and sisters and strangers. The women featured are all living in Alberta, Canada. This is a celebration of Black prairie life and beauty and visibility of us.
